Blog 16: "Type CATW practice 3"

  The passage "How to do things one at a time" inform us about the dangers of multitasking and how it affects our daily lives.Is also known the single tasking is safer then multi-tasking since people who multitask end up doing their task wrong because of the cognative limits of the brain.

  Texting and driving is a commun form of multitasking that many people expose themselves to daily "Talking on the phone while driving?Dumb idea.Texting while driving? Really dumb idea."I agree with this idea because i known the story of a guy who got in a car accident while he was texting and driving both at the same time,he was not so lucky since in the accident he lost he's arms and now he is not able to do neighter drive or text on hes phone.
 
  Many people are less efficent after they turn of their phones because most of them loose a great amount of concentration so they are less active during the day. I could relate this idea to an episode of the life of one friend the i had in middle school where he was constantly texting on the phone during class so the  teacher found out about it and restrictedhes phone and made him stay for after school to do the work the he missed during class I have learned not to distract my self texting to others during class because it could affect my learning just like it did to my friend.

  So going back to the idea i think muti-tasking is a dangerous action the affects the way we as people handle the way we communicate but it is possible to break the habit of multi tasking  and be able to repair our concentraition by under going solution such as yoga and acupuncture it is possible to sharpen our focus.

Blog 14: "Learning from another ENG 99".

Blog 1 in my opinion is the best develop one out of all three it has a good summery the person states hes/her opinion and also gives us a quote from the article the person also fallow and gave us two good body paragraph,one thing I didnt like about the essay apart from having  a few errors is that the person who wrote it after given us a quote in the first paragraph they also paraphrase on the second.If i have to rate the blogs and arragened them in order then I have to make blog 1 the first one then blog 2 and finally being the least close to passing blog number 3.

Blog #12 "Consequentialism".

  The movie "Gone baby gone" give us the story of a child name Amanda who is kidnapped from her mother by a group of men who belive the Amanda's mother  thosen't care for her and also those not take good care of her daughter then the story takes the main character patrick on a journey to find Amanda and take her back to her mother on hes mission patrick goes through a change of mind by going against  hes belives  and actually killing a men he then says to one of the characters in the story name Ray that he  would never kill again.Almost at the end of the movie patrick finds out the that the entire time the retire captian had amanda onder hes household the whole time and that he belive that amanda would have a much better life with him and hes wife then with her maternal mother patrick completly disagree with the captain and calls the police to let them know that the captain was the one who kidnapped amanda all alone.

   Patrick being the only character in the story who belives in ethical absolutism goes own through out the entire movie only following hes own belives the later leads him to the lost of hes girlfriend and to finding out that hes decision of taking amanda back to her mother was not the right thing to do because the mother did not change he ways of treating amanda by showing us a lack of parenting at the end of the movie when we see her getting ready for a date and leaving amanda with who ever wants to take care of her.

  In the other hand the retire police captain believes in consequentialism being the one who takes amanda  from her mother illegally he believes that by doing this he could change amanda's future for the better purpose and to raise her as hes own child in the captain's mind is the best decision even though it is wrong to adopt amanda without the concerned of the mother since this makes the mother believe the her kid is dead because patrick was not able to find her but this was until he went to visit the captain that he found amanda with him and found out the truth about what to her.

  I think the movie "Gone baby gone" those not choose a side between consequentialism and ethical absolutism since it is showed in the movie the both theories are aproved and are each giving good examples of how each of them could affect the outcome of the story. both are demostrated as good and bad decision made by the characters both affecting  Amanda's future life.

 

Blog 10: "Hero and anti-hero in the movie Hero"

A hero is the person who risk himself and hes life to save others in need,also a good hero has no fears and is a great leader at times of need. Bernie Laplante being the one who save all those lives in the plane and risk hes own in the process has to be the hero of this story,When ask if he was to be the hero by Gayle(a reporter, and one of the people the Bernie save when the plane crash)Bearnie answer back to her by saying if he looks like the type of person the will risk hes life to save others even though he lie to her he only said it because he didnt want to expose John Bubber who is the one who took bernie's place calling him self the hero,Bearnie was a great hero in the story even though he had many defects he showed to have great heroic qualities by risking hes life in the face of danger we saw how much courage he really has.

John Bubber in the other hand has to be the anti-hero of the movie.Bubber took bearnie's place by making the public believe the he was the saviour of flight 104,Bubber also is pretty complex through out the concept of the movie he did took bernie's fame and furtune but at the same time he was kind of a hero by motivating kids at the hospital and telling people to help the homeless by donating their bed sheets this show the even though he was greedy for the fame he had a good heart and wanted to help those in need.Bubber show some characteristics of an anti-hero by lying to the public and walking around like if he is the saviour of the plane and by stealling bernie's spot in being rich this are some of the ways that an anti-hero acts.

Blog 9"CATW Practice Test 1"

The "An education in citizenship" talk to us about the meaning and the need of how it is important for illegal young people to have an opportunity at education and be able to attend college at Illinois thanks to a vote the recently passed a bill that would allow them to do so.

"Advocates for immigrants estimate the there are 3,000 young people in Illinois in this awkward position" meaning the this students are not able to study because of their current status in the country.They had been arguments between the state demanding if whether or not the students should attend school.But one thing in favor tours them is that their parents pay taxes in the state meaning the that main practical criterion for access to in state tuition is acceptable.

Another thing is true and that is the students from any of the other 49 states could make the same arguments that the students from Illinois are making since their parents also pay and support federal loans,many of this students ask themselves why will they charge legal students from out of state more tuition then what they charge the non-citizen immigrants,knowing that the difference between both in-state and out state is from 5,302 for in state and 13,906 for students from the other states citizen.

Blog 8 " Summary of Red pill or Blue pill: Is Ignorance Bliss?"

The matrix and the allegory of the cave have many similarities.Neo just like Socratos feel like the life that they are living is far more different then what they are being told it is so both of them decide to go in a journey to find the truth about the world without knowing that the truth is far more complex then what they ever imagine.But The allegory of the cave is not the only story in the text being compare to the Matrix Alice in Wonderland is also another story with some similarities for example like Alice did in the movie Neo goes "through a mirror" into a new world and like Alice Neo goes through a series of events the leave him wondering and asking him self who he is and what is real.Before This shows us how easy life could change with just the blink of an eye, is always good to analyze and think before making decision the could change the way you look at things sometimes is better to just live in a lie that cant hurt you or change you in any way because Ignorance Is Bliss.

Blog 7 "The Heroic Choices In The Matrix"

  Neo had to make many choices during hes path to being the "one" through out the movie's story,  at one point during the first minutes of the movie Morpheous called Neo from at cellphone the was deliver to him by a mailmen he told Neo the he was in great danger that the agents were on their way to hes office to get him, he told him you got two options to either follow hes rule to get out of the building or to go through were the agents came from which is the first door, at first Neo chooses to go with morpheous plan and escape through the window but right when hes about to do it he gets  scared and decides the go with the agents were the capture him and take him to a room were the bug him with a kind of robotic insect.

Another choice neo had to take in the story was to either save the life on morpheus or save hes on life were the agents capture morpheus and get him hostage in an office in the top room of a building neo had a choice to either go in a mission and rescue morpheous from the agents or let disconnect the cables from hes head and let him died without having to go through the pain that the agents were going to get him through, Neo decides to go and save morpheous and get him out of the hands of the agents,  Neo is succesfull on hes task and gets morpheous out of danger.

I think the biggest decision Neo had to take was when he was told to escape with the phone called from the matrix to the real world but Neo decided to stay and fight the agent in a fight were he both improve and demostrated hes skilled of being the one and also finished the agents once and for all. In one scene Neo was killed by the agent who shot him with a gun, i though the would be the end of neo proving the he was not the one but then Trinity gave neo a kiss which brough him back to life, i was not so schocked the neo was actually the saviour in the movie but for a moment i felt like he was not going to revive and though the he was going to stay dead but like i expected neo woke up with the kiss by trinity and killed the agents with no hesitation in what so ever. I think this was the biggest decision to neo since is the one the shows how he is the one to save the world from the matrix.

Blog 6 "I Know The Truth" {essay}

The article  "I Know The Truth, So Don't Bother Me With Facts" writing by Jeffrey Kluger show us  how simple minded people like to stick to their idea of reality and do not like to be judge for what they think is the truth, but this people are not the only ones who like to stick to their own ideas as they are others who just do not know how to maintain the truth so they ignore the facts and stay to their ideas because many times they are scared the the truth might be to great for them to handel.

 A good example of how people like to get absorb by publicity stunts is giving in the text when Feisal Abdul Rauf the iman who is leading the effort to get a center in ground zero which will have a mosque is being target because in the wake up of 9/11 Rauf said "America involvement in wars in the arab world made made U.S. an accessory to the terrorist attacks" people got confuse and  though the Rauf was in  the side of the terrorist by saying the words the he said even though  he was not because Rauf wants to foster tolerence between the east and west as stated in the passage.

 It is almost sad how we as people are easily convince by lies the are many times made up by other people who just love to create arguments or sometimes this type of lies are just made up by people who misinterpret the truth and fall for a lie the they themselves created, Is always good to do a little research on a topic the you are not so sure about it being truth or not because listening to a story that those not have any facts is not worth arguing for.

Blog 5"The Allegory Of The Cave" (edit)

In the short story "The Allegory Of The Cave" we get to witness how the world  and the lives of a group of people is so different from ours.The story follows in a conversation from two of the men living in the cave Glaucon and Socratos one of the men manage to escape the cave to explore the real world, the men is  devastated to find out the our world is so different from what he expected it to be, it was pretty hard for him to understand this reality since from the earlie days of hes childhood all he could of seen was shadow down at the cave.To get use to and now learn to live in a place different from the illusion of a world the he use to live in is such a sad and tragical truth the even thought he might not want to he has to get use to accepting for now on.

Blog 2 "Hype"

   The passage "Hype" states the dangers of advertising and how they affect our everyday life, the passage describe advertisements as a brain pollutant the damage the brain by making people by their product telling them how there product is much better then the other,nowadays is very hard to evade and adv because they are everywhere from television to enormous billboards the are many times place on big buildings on the streets to catch the attention of the consumer.

  A very interesting fact giving by the author let us know how everyday an estimate of at least 15.200,000 commercials and ads are dump into north America's collective unconscious, such a great and affecting number the daily is trigger to make us crave for new goods being lunch to the public, but grown ups are not the only ones being affected kids are also being expose to commercials the makes them want to ask mom and dad to buy them the latest toys and brand sneaker the recently comes out, the author goes on even more and tell us how kids watch" Pepsi and snickers ads in the classroom" this show's us how we are not save even in our working hours from adv's and how dangerous it is to kids when they are on their learning environment.


  Is true how advertisements can affect both the lives of you and others, but i do think the if you can handel the way the you shop and control your brain to not want every singel  new product the you lay your eyes on then advertisements and commercial could be helpfull to get you to keep in touch with whats new and necessary to yourself.

Blog 3 "i know the truth".

The article "I know the thruth so dont bother me with facts" gives us information of many issues going on in the world about how global warming is a hoax, how climate change is actually caused by vacines and others. One topic the article focuses on is the 9/11 tragical event in where many where killed when the twin towers were destroyed 10 years ago. The article informs us how there are plans to build a cultural center which will contain a mosque a culinary school, also they are planing on building a 9/11 memorial.The man behind the creation of such center is Feisal Abdul Rauf an iman and activist whose stated goal is to improve relation between the muslim and the west, Feisal has worked with president Bush to foster tolerence between the east and the west. This issues are very interesting because they inform us about what is going on in the United States and gives us many facts.

Blog 1 "How to do one thing at a time"

Doing more then one thing at a time is not such a good idea, when a person multi-task they are forcing their brain to do more then one activity,which affects the person's capacity to think and to process information.

As it says in the passage "The brain does better when it's performing tasks in sequence rather then all at once" meaning people work better and acumulate information better when their brains are focus on one thing and not in more then one.

It has been said the it is possible to recover your concentration by fallowing many methods the help the mind stay focus and dedicated to one topic the one's wants to accomplish, some of this methods are said to be yoga and acupuncture as writing in the passage.

Multi-tasking is a serious problem and it happend's to the best of us, I my self had experience multi-tasking in several occasions and am right to say  the every time the I experience it one of the things am doing goes wrong because is not good to have the brain working on more then one thing at a time, is always good to  finish up one first to start the other.
